Entry Rules and Guidelines

THE RULES

Eligibility: The screenplay competition is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. The judges of the competition, Script Alchemist, their employees and immediate families are disqualified from participating in this competition. Multiple entries (with multiple fees) by an individual or group are acceptable. All entrants are responsible for determining this competition's legality in his or her place of residence.


Entry Fee: Each completed online entry must be accompanied by a payment in the amount of $50 US Funds. All entries shall be deemed received whether or not the screenplay adheres to the technical requirements as set forth herein. Absolutely No Refunds shall be made by reason of non-compliance or for any other reason whatsoever unless a minimum number of 500 entries are not received. However, Script Alchemist solely reserves the right to accept fewer than 500 entries. Should a refund of fees be necessary, the original fee only ($50 US Funds minus administrative costs) will be returned to the entrant. All entry fees shall be held in a Screenplay Competition Special Account until a determination has been made regarding the minimum number of entries.


Judging: Script Alchmist along with a team of affiliated persons will select the top 100 screenplays. A panel of industry judges will judge the final selections. The judges (who are all well respected and vital members of our indie community) will select three winners.

Technical Requirements: Each entry shall: 1) Consist of not more than 120 pages (90 pages is ideal) written in English. Submitted screenplays must be a Word Document or pdf File. 2) Please include a cover with your screenplay providing us with your name, address, telephone number and email address. 3) Entry submission: Read and follow all the rules on the Online Entry Form. When we have received your entry and payment we will mark your entry as received and send you your receipt and confirmation by email. Please tell us on your cover page how you heard about the competition.


Deadline: Entries must be received on or before May 13, 2010. Any entry posted or received after the above deadline will be ineligible unless Script Alchemist announces an extension of the competition.


Deadline for Determination of Winning Screenplays: First, second, and third place winners shall be chosen on May 20, 2010. If we are unable to contact winner(s) within two weeks, then the prize shall be awarded to the first runner-up and if necessary the second runner-up. We will use the address or email information provided to notify entrants of any extensions and to contact winners at the end of the competition. Please notify us of any changes in your contact information.


Publication: By entering the screenplay competition, entrant grants permission for sponsors to publish entrant's name and screenplay title.


Taxes / Fees: The successful entrant shall be solely responsible for any and all taxes, including but not limited to any transfer taxes and fees, income taxes, legal fees, or any fees of any kind imposed upon or arising out of the successful participation in this screenplay competition.


Description of the Prizes: FIRST PLACE: Winner will receive 40% percent of all entry fees and a 1st Place Trophy. SECOND PLACE: Will receive a 2nd Place Trophy. THIRD PLACE: Will receive a 3rd Place Trophy. The total number of entries to the Competition will determine the monetary amount of First Place.
Extensions: Script Alchemist solely reserves the right to extend the deadline of the screenplay competition entry, determinations of the winning entries and judges statement for one extension period of up to 120 days.


Force Majeure: Entries will be deemed VOID if incomplete or illegible. Promoter reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Competition and these Official Rules if it determines, in its sole discretion, that the Competition is technically impaired or corrupted or that fraud or technical problems, failures or malfunctions have destroyed or severely undermined the integrity and/or feasibility of the Competition. In the event Promoter is prevented from continuing with the Competition by any event beyond its control, including but not limited to fire, flood, epidemic, earthquake, explosion, labor dispute or strike, act of God or public enemy, satellite or equipment failure, riot or civil disturbance, terrorist threat or activity, war (declared or undeclared) or any federal state or local government law, order, or regulation, order of any court or jurisdiction, or other cause not reasonably within the Promoter's control (each a "Force Majeure" event or occurrence), Promoter shall have the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Competition, as applicable.

Cash value of Prize: The total number of entries to the competition will determine the monetary amount of the First Place prize.

Local, State, Federal and International Regulations: This competition is subject to provisions of all applicable local, state, federal and international regulations. This offer is void where prohibited.

Competition"winners" are subject to the approval of Script Alchemist.

All entries will be posted on the competition website.

HOW TO ENTER:

1) Click on the enter online button below and fill out entry form. After clicking the submit button you will be redirected to the submission & Release form.

2) Completely fill out Submission & Release form and click the I Accept button to be redirected to the Screenplay upload page.

3) Upload your screenplay as a Word Document or pdf file only (File Must Not Exceed 956 kb).

4) After uploading your screenplay you will be redirected to the PayPal purchase page. After paying the $50 entry fee ($40.00 if you enter before November 14th) you will receive a confirmation email stating that you are entered in Script Alchemist Screenplay Competition.
